Beta time!!

Guess who got an e-mail yesterday saying they were approved for the FFXIV Beta Test? :D

Yep! That's right! I'm updating it now =^.^=

Unfortunately, I can't talk about anything just yet. All info is strictly confidential, they say. But once I see any info to the contrary, expect future updates!

Final Fantasy XIV!

Yup! I'll be playing Final Fantasy XIV! And it's my intent to continue this blog as a playdiary for that game! After a brief struggle to regain access to this account, I'm now back and ready to go!

Unfortunately, I've gotta wait :(

I signed up for a beta tester account, and have my fingers crossed! I haven't heard back from them yet, but as of March 11th they've only just started closed alpha testing, so I'm hoping, really really hoping haha, that I get picked!! I know the chances are slim, but a Miqo'te can dream! =^.^=

So what am I looking forward to? The new job system is on the top of that list, absolutely. I've heard just enough about the system to get excited about it, and can't wait to see how it works! Next up will probably be the environment. I have so many positive experiences of exploring the world with my brother or newfound friends. I'm fully expecting that aspect to carry over into this game. Next up would probably be the music :) I'm a big fan of Nobuo Uematsu, and simply cannot wait to explore Hydaelyn to his music!

And after that...well, it's hard to say there's any aspect of the game I'm NOT looking forward to!

So...here's hoping! And let's also hope we still have Bazaar messages so I can plug my blog in-game again!

Fame Farming, and Linkshell Procurement

Well, so you might be asking yourself, "what have you been doing for the past two weeks, Treah?" Well, not a whole hell of a lot! (remember to hover your mouse for a caption!)

The Crawler's Nest...it's hard for me to explain why I don't like to level here. Too much of the same, perhaps?

First of all, I got into another group with my thief, the first time this character has seen the Crawler's Nest. I'd forgotten the layout from when my previous character had lived in this place, and so, being asked to pull for the party was like being dunked into ice cold water all at oncce ^^; however, I think I did okay.

I decided, though, that while there's nothing wrong with THF/WAR, for two reasons, I would have to level another subjob for my thief: 1. /WAR would probably work out beautifully for an elvaan or galka thief, but not a mithra, and two, 98% of thieves sub ninja, meaning that if I stick with /WAR, I might gimp my party invites more than they already are.

So, I farmed 200 necklaces from giddeus, doing Nanaa Mihgo's quest 50 times, to get my Tenshodo fame up to level 4. Since all of that farming would be enough to drive someone mad if done all at once, I broke it up with other activities. You might have noticed in the above picture....

Swimsuit + Pumpkin Head + Treat Staff II = OWNAGE! Well, maybe not...

I'm in a new linkshell! It's called xDemonicxAngelsx, and the folk are great! The linkshell was created the day, or maybe the day before I was recruited, and the leader is busy with getting things done, such as getting us established (and therefore recognized by Playonline), getting us a website, etc. That's more work than I did for Ghostbear for the year I reigned over them! ^^

We had a linkshell birthday party in Bibiki Bay ^^ the birthday was for a linkshell mate named Kagomesan, and it was a blast! This was the first meeting I had with a lot of the linkshell members, and we all seemed to enjoy ourselves thoroughly ^^

This is the real reason why the Shadowlord returned to life...we accidentally formed a summoning circle with our corpses.

I discovered that our fearless leader likes to die as much as me, if not, more so! When we all died at the end of the party, we fell in formation ^^

Grabbing some keys for Don and Shin in Ghesba Outpost...first one dropped right away, the second...ugh....

After this, between farming trips, I rediscovered how awesome it was to assist linkshell mates in need. Twice I helped with obtianing airship keys, and I also helped kill the rank 3 dragon! (I enjoyed that so much, I forgot to take any pictures ; ;) We're planning on running players through the missions for rank 4 and 5 soon...I just hope my noob ass doesn't end up making me a liability when I try to "help" :P

This is directly after I tagged the objective for the Utsusemi: Ichi scroll. WHM level 1 versus sea monk level ~50? Heh ^^`

And finally, I was able to complete the four ninja quests I had set out to ^^ and as of last night, I just leveled ninja to 12, so I can now use Utsusemi, the main ninja spell that allows us to tank (though, at first, only in a limmited fashion). Since I've got something against taking pictures of valkurm, you won't see any photos of me in action until I hit 20, but perhaps that's for the best...maybe then I'll know what I'm doing! :P

Airship Guide!

This will be the first of a few useless guides that I've been meaning to post ^^ the information in this guide is well known, but for the sake of sillyness, away I post!

The Airship Guide

The Grand Dutchy of Jeuno!

This is the city of Jeuno, a city every level 20+ player is quite familiar with. Jeuno, as I've heard certain NPCs say, keeps the construction of airships a secret from the three nations, which are all dependent on Jeuno for its convenient trade avenue. Any character can complete a quest to gain an airship pass to get to Kazham, but only rank 5+ characters can ride airships from one of the three nations to Jeuno, or the other way (unless you change your allegience, I'm not sure about that ^^`).

Taken from Kazham Bay (I fell through the pier ; ;).

And this is an airship, in all of its glory. While it's the only way to Elshimo Island (mechanically speaking. Ships have been going back and forth for a long while, storyline-wise, but Norg makes the trip dangerous), airships in general provide an alternative means of transportation from any of the starting cities to Jeuno and back again. What would take a rider on a chocobo about 20ish minutes takes an airship rider 5. Additionally, quests can be collected by an NPC standing at the airship docks of the three cities, which give you something to do on the ride, as well as reward you with 500 gil, essentially refunding your tickets (these quests cannot be done when leaving Jeuno by airship).

A Passenger.  They can get to places that we can't ; ;

So, what can be done on an airship? Well, a few things. First of all, you could always go AFK for five mintues (returning late will not put you back onto the airship once it has landed, you spawn in on the dock). Second, as I mentioned earlier, you can preform the airship quest, in which you are shown an NPC at the docks, and you must pick him/her out of many other similar-looking people. Finally, there's The Glitch!

The Airship Glitch

This can only be done if you are playing FFXI on a PC. I've heard from one player that X-Box players were able to do it at one point, but can no longer, however I've only heard this from one person. The general consensus is, it's a PC only thing.

Basically, this glitch allows you to stand on the railing of the airship ^^ which is cool, seeing as FFXI characters are generally unable to do much that doesn't involve running around and falling down pits ; ;

X marks the spot ^^

First, you must find the proper point at which you will climb. There are technically four points at which you can climb, but the one depicted in the picture is by far the best, in my experience.

The Point of Glitch.

See what I'm pointing at? The railing angles just a little bit. This is where we will be climbing.

This usually doesn't take long, if you know how to do it.

You need to run into this spot. You'll see your character move up and down (on the Z axis, that is) as you do this. I find that if you run into the spot, and turn right just a tiny bit, you'll hop right up. I usually turn the camera while running forward to accomplish this. DO NOT USE AUTO RUN! Also, after the first few seconds, your finger may press down harder on the W key in a subconcious effort to run forward better. Make sure to refrain from this.

/hurray!!!

And you're up! Be careful to stop as soon as you climb up. This is why we don't use autorun or push down really hard, stopping quickly is key. Otherwise, you'll fall over the side ; ; You don't actually fall off, you'll be standing on the side of the airship. This will be hilarious the first time, but afterward, it'll just be frustrating, because you can't move at all once you fall overboard. So, what now, you might ask?

It's dangerous over there ; ;

Well, you can walk back and forth ^^ or, you can go where Treah is indicating in the picture. Be careful not to fall off when creeping up the steep railing. You can walk on the white tarp, and get over to that main rotor. You can even fall in, and pretend like you're in a blender 0.0

Ahhh...such a great view ^^

Finally, you can fall down here, and watch as Jeuno approaches ^^

Well, this concludes the airship guide ^^ tune in next week for, "How To Tie Your Shoes." :P

"She's one of them rangers."

Just a quick update to reaffirm my existance. I've recently purchased The Sims 2, so I haven't played as much FFXI as I've wanted to, but now I think the new game smell has worn off, and I'm ready to grind again ^^ (don't forget to hover your mouse for a caption!)

Crafting looks really cool in this game compared to other MMOs, but it's not very user-friendly. I recommend reading a guide for your craft.

My plan's been going pretty well, and I now have a concrete idea of what to do. First of all, when I hit level 35 for thief, I took a short break and got into carpentry using this guide, and have been crafting crossbow bolts for the new class I unlocked...

Me, doing the ranger quest.  Poor tiger...you have to watch him die ; ;

Ranger! That's right, I'm one of those crazy, badass mithran hunters you've likely heard of. I'll tell ya, I've seen a lot of development in my DD capacity since level ten, and have gone from "miss miss miss miss miss" to "eat that, samurai!" Seriously, I haven't felt this useful in a long while, getting just absolutely crazy damage numbers and enfeebling the mob at the same time (for a while, I was switching between blind bolts (blindness) and acid bolts (defense down), depending on what mob we were fighting (acid for crabs, blind for damselflies, etc)).

Get offa ma propertey!

My plan remains unchanged, for the most part, but is now perfectly defined. My ranger (now 17), will be leveled to 20. Then, I'll switch back to thief, get that to 40. Next, I'll farm Giddeus for Tenshodo fame, get my fame up to level 4, and do four ninja scroll quests (Tonko, Utsusemi, Kurayami, and Hojo). Finally, I'll level ninja, which is currently at 10, to 30. After that, I'll either resume thief with ninja as a sub, or the same with ranger. I've had a lot of time to think about this plan, and I'm very confidant that I'll be able to stick with it. Until the next update!

Addendum: I kind of have this thing against taking pictures of valkurm parties. I don't want to look at those damn dunes if I don't have to. This is why there are no pictures of me partying with my new ranger job. Just imagine about 10 pictures of me, in a desert, with a crossbow shouldered, aiming at a crab surrounded by people waaaay off in the distance :P
